I am a Finnish artist currently based in the hilly countryside just north of Rome. I have studied Arts and Jewelry both in Finland and at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.  I work with small-scale ceramic sculpture and drawing combining a variety of mixed media and techniques.

In my art I draw upon ‘primitive art’, indigenous mythology and the infinite variety of forms found in the Animal World.

Furthermore I am curious about the animal symbolism and human need – from prehistorical times – to give meaning both to animal characteristics as well as to our encounters with them.

All my Totem sculptures, animal figures and commissioned ceramic works are hand built unique pieces. For my sculptures I mostly use white earthenware clay that is fired in 1000 °C, yet I work in stoneware and porcelain as well.
